North Plains Garlic Festival 2008

The sky was overcast and it was sprinkling around Portland, but the sun broke through over North Plains and the Garlic Festival started off great. The parade was larger this year with more entrants, a marching band and some of the cars that came early for the show. The crowd of people grew as more and more cars parked for the Car Show. The number of cars wasn’t as large as last year because of the potential for rain (there were at least 10 cars that preregistered that did not show) with only fifty cars registering this year. That still didn’t dampen the spirits and the fun as spectators milled around the cars listening to 50 years of great music. People took advantage of the free golf cart shuttles between the car show and the Garlic Festival. Many raffle prizes were given out during the show this year including a hand made blanket donated by club member Becky McDon-ald. Three o’clock rolled around too soon and Eric Johansson and Mike Hinsch ended the show with the winners of the many different classes of vehicles.
